MEC211 WELDING
Tuition $3,895.00
Participants will learn the basics of Shielded Metal ARC Welding (SMAW) in accordance with
the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 standard. Topics covered include weld terminology,
Oxy-fuel welding setup, Arc welding processes and safety, OSHA standards, visual inspection
as well as several types of welds. Participants will also be introduced to Gas Metal Arc
Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). AWS certification is offered to
those students who pass qualification. Passing of the AWS 3G and 4G 1” testing also qualifies
the student for the New York City welding license. Training is taught in a blended format of
180 hours of classroom and lab, with an additional online learning component. All books and
materials are included. Each student will be given a jacket and gloves. Helmet and Certification

MEC136 MASTERCAM 2018

Students will learn a computer-aided manufacturing software most commonly used by machine
technology professionals. This course will cover creating 2D drawings and part programming

This course will cover 3D Solids creation from 2D wireframe geometry, 2D High Speed
Dynamic toolpaths and its uses, basic plane creation and manipulation. This is an advanced
Mastercam course for students who have already taken Mastercam (MEC136) or who have

MEC145 MANUFACTURING READINESS BOOT CAMP No Tuition Required
This 84-hour boot camp introduces students to the manufacturing field through a combination of
lab, demonstrations and group instruction, in areas such as welding, soldering, machining, and
manufacturing processes. Students will develop skills and techniques in quality production, shop
math, basic shop tools, problem-solving, teamwork, and workforce readiness. Upon successful
completion, students will receive a 10-hour OSHA certification and a possible 200-hour paid job
experience. This boot camp is offered at no charge under a grant provided by U.S. Department
of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. Available to qualified applicants only. To
