A great follow-up to Introduction to Specialized Automotive Electronics Training for the person
looking to improve their automotive electrical troubleshooting skills. This lecture/lab course
focuses on reading wiring diagrams (schematics) and effective diagnostic strategies for use
with various automotive electrical accessories. Students will build on skills covered in the
introductory course by testing and diagnosing electrical circuits on shop cars, using online
service information and test equipment. All equipment will be provided. However, students are
encouraged to bring their own digital test meter and test light. (3 meetings)

XAU112 HANDS-ON LAB SCOPE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT Tuition $200.00
This course is designed for automotive technicians and service personnel with a basic level of
automotive lab scope/oscilloscope ability. Prior knowledge of basic electrical and scope usage
is strongly recommended. This eight-hour course gives the student a chance to experiment on
lab vehicles and to hone their skills with the support of the instructor as well as peers within the
course. (1 meeting)

This course will cover best practices for brake service including rotor finishing utilizing the Pro-
cut on-car brake lathe. This course results in a certification for the use of the newest pro-cut

XAU110 AUTOMOTIVE OSCILLOSCOPE DIAGNOSTICS Tuition $200.00
With ever more complex diagnostic problems facing the advanced diagnostic technician, a tool
to get to the real cause of the problem has never been more valuable. Only with an oscilloscope
do you have the ability to diagnose these complex faults. This one-day blended classroom and
hands-on course will cover the theory and operation of automotive oscilloscopes. The hands-
on portion of this class will include performing oscilloscope test functions including relative
compression testing, current ramping, ignition system testing, cam-crank correlation, MAF
testing and more. This class is designed around the Pico Scope platform but applies to Snap-
on, Autel and other automotive oscilloscopes. Scope owners are encouraged to bring their own
scope, however all tools and equipment will be supplied. (2 meetings)

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams offer the automotive service technician the
ability to achieve a credential that is nationally recognized. The ASE exam is a stackable and
transferrable certification that offers the opportunity for higher earning potential within the
automotive industry. This course will offer test taking strategies, resources and preparation for
taking the ASE A6 Automotive Electricity and Electronics certification exam. (1 meeting)
