XHI201 TECHHIRE HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY No Tuition Required

Students will participate in online instruction to develop career skills for the Health IT

workforce. This Health IT online program is approximately 78 hours of online instruction

(equivalent to six months) and is designed to prepare students with the practical knowledge

and skills required to fill the Health IT roles in a variety of healthcare settings. Students will be

introduced to an electronic health record using a vendor specific EHR called Spring Charts.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion

from Suffolk County Community College, a Certificate of Completion from Spring Charts, and

will also be prepared and receive a voucher to take the certification exam administered by

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for Certified Associate

in Health Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS). Students will receive career

counseling as they explore employer requirements and develop a portfolio accordingly.

Prerequisite: Must be 17-29 years of age.

SURGICAL TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

No Tuition Required

The goal of the Surgical Technician Program is to graduate qualified students with the knowledge

and confidence to function independently and safely in a surgical operating room or similar,

sterile environment. Participants must be dedicated to the program to learn all the skills and

techniques required to become a Certified Surgical Technologist. Admission into the 2019

Surgical Technician Program is open to 10 applicants who meet the program criteria and

eligibility. This one-year program, beginning on January 22, 2019, requires students to attend

all classes and labs. In addition, the program will require 120 clinical scrub-ins at an offsite

hospital and/or surgical center. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation

to and from the clinical site. The coursework for this program requires a full commitment from

the student. Studying, classroom learning, labs and clinical rotations will be very intense and

time consuming. This program must be a priority for a successful outcome. It is expected that

all assignments will be completed on time and all classes, labs, and rotations will be attended.

Surgical Technology is a career that can be very rewarding, however, it requires full dedication.

The effort put into this program will directly affect the outcome.

to “positively adapt” yourself to ensure a healthier way of being. Learn to do so, as you examine

personal and professional applications in managing stress. This course will give you practical tools
