XMB110 INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY Tuition $240.00
This course is designed for individuals planning to enter or upgrade their skills in the health
care field. Positions such as medical records clerk, health unit clerk, medical transcriber,
medical office biller, or nurse require this knowledge. Prefixes, suffixes, and acronyms will
be covered. Students will develop a working knowledge of the medical language needed in a
health care setting. Required text for this course is Medical Terminology, 7th Edition by Barbara
Janson Cohen published by Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott Williams and Wilkins
(ISBN 978-1-4511-8756-4). Note : Class will not meet on 3/28. (6 meetings)

HEALTH CARE WORKER
This course will prepare students for an entry level position as a Community Health Care
Worker. The Community Health Care Worker is responsible for understanding the community
they serve. They help educate and build strategies with their community members to create
healthier behaviors. Community health care workers are dedicated individuals who provide
a range of services. This program is a blended format of classroom and online instruction.
Students must purchase Foundations for Community Health Workers 2nd Edition, published by
Wiley, (ISBN: 978-1119060819). Upon successful completion of this course, students will be
employable as a Community Health Care Worker. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or High
School Equivalency.
