XFA104 BASIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Tuition $108.00
This workshop provides an exciting opportunity to explore the fascinating world of digital
photography using a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) and mirrorless cameras. Topics include
composition, light and shadow, portraiture, abstract, and landscape photography. Explore how
you intend to use your images – for the internet or print. What about noise reduction, burst
speed, white balance, optical and digital zoom, buffer, and burst mode? Further explore these
issues and the specifics of digital camera controls, such as resolution, formatting, color space,
and correct exposure. Each week students will bring in prints for group discussion and critique.
Students are required to have read the manual to their personal camera upon entering class.
Students need to bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera to class. (6 meetings)

Topics include flash, still life, creativity, and conceptual photography. Students will have an

portrait. Students will explore a variety of methods and approaches to portrait photography.
Topics will include lighting, location, film choice, and composition. Each week students will
