Message from the Chair
i am delighted to join with Dr. Shaun L. McKay in presenting this latest annual
summary of accomplishments for Suffolk County Community College to our partners
in the community, local and regional employers, elected officials, and colleagues in
education. e amount of work that stands behind each of the achievements documented
in these pages is incredible and really speaks to the special community that has been
assembled here at Suffolk.
our faculty, staff and administrators are clearly dedicated to both the success of each
student and to the ongoing success of this outstanding institution. Similar dedication
is also evident among the College’s Board of Trustees, whose members are committed to
maintaining the best interests of our students at the core of all we do. i am honored to share this responsibility with my
fellow Board members, each of whom is motivated by the desire to see the College remain at the forefront of community
colleges, both in New York State and nationally.
our College has been further strengthened by the leadership of Dr. McKay as President. He is a passionate and tireless
advocate for our College, who is driven toward excellence through his vision of transforming lives within a proactive teaching
and learning environment. Accordingly, he takes responsibility for ensuring that such an environment exists for everyone and
this has served to enhance the educational experience enjoyed by all of our students.
our institution remains vibrant within Suffolk County and we are grateful for the ongoing support received from our
sponsors. our elected officials know the importance of their investment in higher education and we know how important
it is to continue demonstrating the value gained through that investment. By remaining at the forefront of academic
programming, workforce training and continuing education options, our students, our neighborhoods, our businesses and
the Long island community all benefit from the ongoing growth of Suffolk County Community College.
with everyone’s continued support, we look forward to attaining noteworthy growth and achieving many more
significant accomplishments in the years ahead.
