Below is the typical schedule for three to five year olds:
7:30-9:00 | Arrival, greetings, health check. Choice of all learning centers/free play, self-directed activities including table toys, blocks, manipulative, easels, dramatic play area. |
9:00-9:30 | Eating and mealtimes: Help children wash hands and eat breakfast. Sit with children and enjoy breakfast together. |
9:30-10:50 | Indoor Play: Good morning, weather, circle time, story time, music, songs, flannel board, finger play. Free choice of learning centers: art, music, reading center, science, sensory table, literacy writing center, manipulatives, dramatic play center. Cleanup:Help the children to put materials away. |
10:50-11:50 | Dressing: Help children put on outerwear before heading outdoors. Outdoor play: Supervise and interact with children as they explore the playground environment and equipment. Roll balls back and forth, blow bubbles, paint with water, make natural discoveries, and so on. |
12:00-12:45 | Eating and mealtimes: Assist the children to wash their hands and eat lunch. Sit with children and encourage conversation about the day’s events, the meal itself, and other things of interest to the children. Wash hands and faces. |
12:45-2:30 | Sleeping and nap times: Help children relax so they can fall asleep. Supervise napping kids and provide quiet activities for children who do not sleep. Adjust length of nap time to suit the group pattern and the needs of individual children. |
2:30-2:45 | Snack: Wash hands, set table, clean-up |
