8. Career Counseling and Internships
The career and transfer counseling centers at Suffolk provide
guidance for students and alumni, while serving as a liaison
with faculty and outside employers to help students realize
their career potential. Suffolk’s faculty and counselors identify
students’ core strengths, clarify career goals and identify
academic majors to help them reach their educational and
career objectives. Additionally, Suffolk is home to approximately
125,000 alumni –– with the majority living and working right
here on Long Island. This translates into numerous networking
possibilities for students seeking internship placement or
starting a career.
9. Athletic Excellence
Suffolk has been recognized among the top intercollegiate two-year athletic programs in the nation (Division III of the
National Junior College Athletic Association – NJCAA) and has won 87 Region XV Championships. The College is
home to 12 national team championships and 44 individual national champions and is also the recipient of numerous
sportsmanship awards. Suffolk also offers a wide range of intramural sports.
