Banner Implementation/Computer and Information Systems.
is past
year, the office of Computer information Systems (CiS) completed the development
of the on-line learning environment within the MySCCC portal to house the virtual
Learning Commons (vLC) funded under the Title iii grant. e vLC now houses
six content areas with over 100 learning objects. As the grant progresses, this site
will continue to expand with more content areas, more learning objects and more
features. e CiS team also successfully worked on another Title iii initiative –
helping to reduce the processing time for evaluating and accepting online admissions
applications.
overall, the College is completing the migration to Banner and preparing to retire
its old mainframe. we continue to work on the impletion of systems in Banner for
faculty administration and we are nearing completion on the development of a
modification to track adjunct seniority and begin automating the payroll process for
overload and adjunct assignments.
on the student side, we completed a Banner modification to improve the evaluation
of Student’s Academic progress and the development of a web application for the
presentation of syllabi information that will assist four-year institutions with the
evaluation of our courses for student transfer credits. we also began the migration of
College desktop computers to windows 7; and began the process of updating the
College’s current portal to provide greater user capacity and expanded features.
