POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 26,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Established in 1959, the college offers a wide array of transfer-oriented associate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences; business; communications and the arts; computing and cybersecurity; health sciences; and many other areas. Career-facing degrees and certificates are offered in allied health professions, automotive technology, culinary and baking, manufacturing, and many other areas. The college provides high school concurrent enrollment opportunities to thousands of students each year through both Suffolk’s Beacon program and through on-campus early college classes. Designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, Suffolk enrolls thousands of students in English Language Learning courses, and also serves more Veterans and military-connected students than any other college in the SUNY system.

 

SUNY Suffolk  is searching for a full-time (12-month), tenure-track Professional Assistant (PA) for the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center beginning immediately at the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood, NY. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at local trade shows, attend job fairs, college fairs, and open houses.  Provide information on programs and assist with student recruitment.
  • Assist with the onboarding of students to manufacturing programs. 
  • Assist in the setup and implementation of classes. Prepare binders, handouts, rosters, and necessary paperwork for classes. Maintain inventory of consumables, classroom supplies, and informational handouts. Collect student registration forms, safety forms, and other documentation related to specific programs, and maintain files.
  • Maintain student information database in Microsoft Access, entries and reporting.
  • Assist in procurement and implementation of materials and supplies in compliance with financial allocations.
  • Collect evaluation data, tracking, and other pertinent information to generate reports.
  • Follow-up with program inquiries, via calls and emails.
  • Update department documents as required.
  • Enter class and student information into Smartsheets as it pertains to individual programs.
  • Generate and follow-up on student surveys.
  • Market the Advanced Manufacturing Training Program on approved social media platforms.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
  • This position may require individual to have flexible work hours due to the coverage of events as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work deliverables as needs evolve.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least three years of administrative or other professional experience, record keeping, program implementation and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; Microsoft Access a plus.

 

Preferred

  • Previous experience in or knowledge of manufacturing.
  • Experience with student recruitment and onboarding. 
  • Experience marketing programs on Social Media platforms
  • Knowledge of Banner.


HIRING SALARY:

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision, vacation days, deferred compensation, and a defined benefit (pension) plan.
