POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Part Time Assistant Teacher at the Children’s Learning Centers – is a SCC Association position and report to the Director of the Children’s Learning Center. Children’s Learning Center has an employment opportunity for a Teacher Assistant.

 

The candidate must be a caring, kind individual with a love for children. Must also be a team player and have some flexibility in scheduling.

 

The Center is open for the Fall Semester (August-December), Spring Semester (January-May) and closed during the Summer. Hours of operation are 7:30-5:00 Monday through Friday. Children ages 6 weeks to 5 years are accepted for care.

Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Assist, plan, supervise, and implement the child care program in accordance with professional standards and the policies and philosophy of the Center under direction of the teacher.
  2. Assist in program planning, addressing the needs, interest, special talents, individual styles and rates of learning of the individual children.
  3. Treat children with dignity and respect at all times; model respect of cultural and socioeconomic differences.
  4. Maintain the appearance and learning environment of the classroom; participate in housekeeping responsibilities.
  5. Maintain a positive liaison with the parents of the children.
  6. Monitor conditions to insure the children’s safety at all times; acquaint children with safety rules.
  7. Monitor the daily attendance of the children, including individual arrival and departure times.
  8. Understand and practice universal precautions at all times.
  9. Assist children with age-appropriate personal needs as necessary.
  10. Attend staff meetings and training programs, conferences and courses related to the young child.
  11. Other related duties as assigned by the Director or his/her designee.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A.A. in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Salary is based on degree and years of Early Childhood Education experience. Two years prior experience in a NAEYC Accredited Early Childhood Center and Licensed Early Childhood Center or minimum CDA Certification with two years’ experience working with children less than 5 years of age.
