POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs. We are currently hiring for a full-time Account Clerk to join our Human Resources Department on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. This position will be a key member of our Payroll Department, providing services to our faculty and staff.

Job responsibilities:

  • Verify new employee pay packets for accuracy for Part time and Adjunct employees.
  • Create new employee files and maintain records.
  • Review Web Time Entry to ensure all time submitted for over 400 employees in timely manner.
  • Communicate with employees and Supervisors to obtain late time card information data.
  • Process Direct Deposit and Tax Withholding changes
  • Assist in answering claim information requests from Unemployment
  • Answer employee requests for information regarding their paychecks


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Either:

  1. Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in computing and registering data in financial records, accounts, or journals; or,
  2. Two (2) years of clerical experience, and six (6) credits in accounting from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State.

 

NOTE:  Education beyond high school from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State including at least three (3) credits in accounting per year may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.



HIRING SALARY:

As per the Association of Municipal Employees (AME) contract, the starting annual salary is $42,047 (Grade 11). Salary is in accordance with Suffolk County Civil Service and AME contract.
