POSITION DESCRIPTION: | Suffolk County Community College has received a grant to implement a SUNY ASAP Student program. The Suffolk Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) program provides direct support to students that promotes retention and academic success. This program is designed to increase timely graduation rates by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that may affect students. The Suffolk ASAP program includes comprehensive advisement, financial incentives including tuition waivers for financial-aid-eligible students, yearly textbook assistance, and transportation support. This is a 1-year, grant-funded position that may be renewed.
The college is currently seeking a 12-month, full-time, temporary grant-funded Advisor to serve in this college-wide position. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college.
The Suffolk ASAP Advisor is expected to meet with students across the three campuses in support of the recruitment and retention goals set by the State University of New York and the ASAP replication grant. The Suffolk ASAP Advisor is a member of an integrated college-wide team providing individual academic and personal support to ASAP students as they progress through the program. This position will report to the Project Director for the Suffolk ASAP Program.
