POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Announcement is hereby made for a full-time Account Clerk position in the Central Payroll department on the Ammerman Campus in Selden.  Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Verify new employee information entered in Banner through Adjunct Services for new adjunct hires. Make any updates or changes as needed.
  • Create new employee files and maintain records.
  • Process Adjunct Substitutions and Dockings on a biweekly basis reconciling allowed absences and dockings.
  • Answer questions related to Schedule D including providing assistance to Academic Chairs and support staff on the correct way to complete change, add and removal memos needed to update Schedule D.
  • Work with Unemployment to answer claims submitted by Adjuncts which must be answered in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile Web Time Entries made by part time employees
  • Process Direct Deposit changes and Tax withholding changes submitted by employees.
  • Assist in the evaluation of procedures and make recommendations to streamline processes
  • Prepare complex Excel reports as needed by VP of Human Resources.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience in computing and registering data in financial records, accounts, or journals.

 

NOTE:  College education in any area may be substituted for experience at the rate, 30 credits = 1 year, provided that for each 30 credits earned, at least 3 credits were in accounting.



HIRING SALARY:

Starting salary is $43,248 in accordance with Suffolk County Civil Service and AME contract.
