POSITION DESCRIPTION:

SUNY Suffolk is searching for adjunct Instructors in Biology including Marine Biology beginning in the Spring 2025 semester, at the Ammerman Campus in Selden, NY. This position requires wide ranging expertise in the field of Biology, and an in-depth biological understanding of Anatomy and Physiology. SUNY Suffolk is a comprehensive community college committed to open access, equity, and student success, and candidates for adjunct faculty positions should be prepared to demonstrate their commitment to these values. Instructors are scheduled to teach based on the needs of students and their department and may have the option to teach in different course preps in more than one modality.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and delivers high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college.
  2. Participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  3. Ensures that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice.
  4. Ensures that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices.
  5. Incorporates engaging and appropriate academic technology into different modes of instructional delivery.
  6. Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in the college catalog and the approved course outline.
  7. Fulfills all contractual requirements related to adjunct faculty.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree in Biology
  2. Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity and student success.
  3. Familiarity with a learning management system and willingness to use the College's LMS (i.e. Brightspace).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. PhD in Biology
  2. Experience teaching in various modalities.
