• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
• Saves Dr/NP time by helping with office procedures such as Documenting in Electronic Medical Record.
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential within the Technology venue.
• Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about visit.
• Preparing EMR charts, and confirming receipt of necessary consent forms.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying with peers.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; advising management on the need for repairs?
• Updates job knowledge by willingly participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
• Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

Requirements

Supply Management, Verbal Communication, Infection Control, Creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Organization, Scheduling, Professionalism, Customer Focus, Confidentiality, Medical Teamwork. Certified MA with Phlebotomy certification. High School Diploma. Associates preferred.

 

Hours

Flexible day and evenings with possible Saturday mornings.

Job Duties:
• Welcome patients as they contact the center personally and explain the services available, payment categories, and billing procedures.
• Schedule appointments; direct walk-in patients and emergencies as per established policies and procedures.
• Answer all incoming calls and route them to the appropriate staff.
• Register all patients per registration protocols an collect all documentation.
• Generate encounter forms for each patient, and assure that all services provided have been checked out properly.
• Reviews and verifies patient coverage of insurance or with other agencies and be able to compute overall charges to be paid by the patient.
• Collects deposits or co-pays/deductibles prior to the patient being seen by the provider per established policies and procedures. Inform patient of their outstanding balance, collect said balance, and issue cash receipt when monies are collected.
• Work closely with Medical and Nursing staff to assure smooth patient flow and cut down on waiting time.
• Work closely with the health financial personnel and refer them to patients who did not keep their appointment for follow-up.
• Call and remind patient of his/her appointment. Now being AUTOMATED
• Follow up on “no show” patients on a daily basis. Call and reschedule appointment if required
• Communicate patient’s problem/complaint to the practice manager or his/her designee when issue cannot be resolved.
• Other related duty as the job requires.

 

Requirements

Qualification, Education, and Experience: (1) High school graduate/GED. (2) Formal training from a vocational school in lieu of the above. (3) One year of medical experience from a similar setting. (4) Ability to relate to patients, through familiarity with medical terminology and triage procedure. (5) Must believe in health care with dignity for all. (6) Ability to communicate with people and understand their problems. (7) Ability to speak, read and write in English or Spanish is desirable. Responsible To: Business office / or Billing Manager
