Student Trustee

The student trustee is one of ten members of the Suffolk County Community College Board of Trustees and the SCC Association Board of Directors. The SCCC Board of Trustees is charged with the overall responsibility of governing the college through policy development, long-range planning, and fiscal management. The SCC Association Board of Directors has responsibility for managing, controlling, and directing the business affairs, activities, and policies of the SCC Association. The SCC Association collects a College Fee from students each semester in order to enhance co-curricular programs and services in such areas as campus activities, theatre, athletics, and child care.

The student trustee is elected each year in a general election held during the spring semester on all three campuses. To be eligible to run for student trustee, a student must:
  • be a matriculated student at Suffolk County Community College
  • be in good academic standing
  • have completed at least 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5

The student who receives the majority of the votes from the tri-campus polls serves as the student trustee for the following academic year. For additional information, see the following:
