Make an appointment with a transfer counselor in the Counseling Center.
Determine what's important to you in selecting a transfer college:
public vs. private
cost
location
program availability
selectivity
Identify alternative transfer colleges:
research their strengths and weaknesses
talk to counselors, faculty, your academic advisor, and other students
use Internet search programs
read college guidebooks
call and request a college catalog and application materials
Narrow your choices down to 2-4 colleges and investigate them further:
visit the transfer college(s) and take a tour
talk to an admissions counselor, inquire about transfer credit and transfer scholarships (bring a transcript)
talk to current and former students
talk to faculty in your program area
If letters of recommendation are needed, make the appropriate arrangements with faculty and administrators who know you well and are likely to write the strongest letters on our behalf.
Apply for admission well in advance of any application deadlines.
Apply for financial aid as soon as you have narrowed down your choices to a reasonable number.
Make arrangements to have your official transcript sent.
Follow up with the Admissions Office at the transfer college to make sure they have received your application and transcripts.
