Introduction
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded project within the U.S. Department of Education's TRIO family of programs. The TRIO programs have been established to help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education. Consistent with the mission, the SSS program is designed to help students who are low income, have a disability, and/or are first generation college students successfully complete their college education. Suffolk is now one of approximately 900 colleges and universities nationwide that offers an SSS program for its students.

 

Eligibility
Students should be enrolled full time and in their first semester at Suffolk County Community College. In addition, students must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • first generation college student
    (i.e., neither parent has graduated from college with a four-year degree.)

TRIO Programs

or

or

  • have a documented disability
