Chales Funk ’62 Charles was a member of the first entering and graduating class of SCCC. He was also the first student government president and met his wife the second day of classes in an Intermediate Spanish class. After Suffolk, he went on for a BA at Hofstra and an MA at NYU, and worked for the County and State for a few years before opening an insurance agency in Centereach. He works with the day laborers in Farmingville and appeared in the award winning documentary, “Farmingville.” He also teaches Freshman Seminar at SCCC. |

Demetria Ramnarine ’06 Demetria works at Stony Brook University Hospital in the Cardiac Acute Care Unit where the majority of her nursing colleagues are also SCCC graduates.

Samantha Diaz ’07 Samantha is an SCCC Honors grad who received a full scholarship at Chapel Hill where eight other SCCC grads also attend.

Darren O'Hare ’01 While serving in the US ARMY Reserve, Darren received two associates degrees from SCCC. Since then, he has appeared in many TV commercials and has also co-starred in TV’s How I Met Your Mother, Bones, 24, The Unit, Shark and Close to Home.

Jamie Minnick, ’05 After graduating from SCCC, Jamie went on to receive his BS in Electrical Engineering at Polytechnic University. He is the founder and president of Eastern Energy Systems Inc which provides renewable energy options – solar, wind, geothermal – for homeowners and businesses. His childhood home is a ‘living laboratory of renewable energy.’
