| POSITION DESCRIPTION: | The Campus Associate Dean’s primary responsibilities include providing administrative support for assigned campus academic units and functions and serving as chief administrative officer of the campus when designated by the Executive Dean/Campus CEO. The Campus Associate Dean for Academic Affairs reports to Executive Dean/Campus CEO and has the following responsibilities:
1. Coordinates the work of assigned academic offices to ensure effective communication, efficient administration, and consistent application of college-wide policies;
2. Assists with the development and management of the campus master schedule in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by the College Associate Dean for Planning and College Master Scheduling;
3. Monitors enrollment reports and section utilization rates and consults with academic chairs to ensure appropriate responses to enrollment trends;
4. Collaborates with the College Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment in the analysis, development, and evaluation of courses, curricula, and programs;
5. Guides the development of assessment activities and monitors the application of assessment feedback in conjunction with the College Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment;
6. Collaborates with student services personnel and faculty to develop effective recruitment and retention strategies;
7. Participates in campus mentoring programs for new faculty;
8. Oversees the faculty evaluation process as it relates to term and continuing appointments, promotions, and tenured faculty reviews in assigned departments;
9. Observes and evaluates faculty, when designated by the Executive Dean/Campus CEO ;
10. Arranges elections for academic/assistant chairs in assigned departments in accordance with College policy;
11. Assists with the development and management of the operating budget for assigned academic areas;
12. Collaborates in the distribution and use of classrooms and faculty offices in consultation with the Executive Dean/Campus CEO;
13. Addresses grade grievances and student complaints that are not resolved at the departmental level;
14. Serves on campus and college committees as appropriate;
15. Acts as the chief administrative officer of the campus when so designated by the Executive Dean/Campus CEO ;
16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Dean/Campus CEO . |
| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: | Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in science, engineering or mathematics and prior college administrative experience serving in a similar capacity. |
| HIRING SALARY: | Salary will be determined according to placement on the management salary scale negotiated by the Guild of Administrative Officers. |
