TITLE:Admissions Counselor, Job-Share (12 month)

CAMPUS:Grant Campus

START DATE:February 1, 2009

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:Tenure

RANK:Initial appointment is generally made at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Admissions counselor (12 months job-share) reports to the Director of Admissions and has the following duties and responsibilities:

 

1.    Providing information pertaining to the enrollment process including    college programs and services, enrollment procedures, admissions criteria, and specific curriculum requirements to prospective students, school counselors and community agencies.  Meeting with prospective students individually and in groups to deliver Admissions information.

 

2.    Recruiting at local high schools, college fairs, college nights and community agencies including evening and weekend recruitment events.

 

3.    Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, coordinating admissions and recruitment activities with faculty and other offices.

 

4.    Reviewing admissions applications for new and continuing students.

 

5.    Working collaboratively with administration and faculty for specific academic programs.

 

6.    Assisting with follow-up activities including telephone calls, specialized mailings, e-mail and information appointments.

 

7.    Monitoring, tracking and following up students’ progress throughout the admissions and enrollment process.

 

8.    Managing computerized information for tracking and reporting purposes.

 

9.    Providing crisis intervention counseling on a rotating basis for students experiencing psychological and emotional problems.

 

10.  Performing other duties as assigned by Director of Admissions.

 

Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees is required.  Grant writing and utilization of technology is preferred.

 



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel or Social Work, and two years experience in college admissions and recruitment is required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy are required. 



HIRING SALARY:

The salary range is $28,279 - $37,635 (job share).  The exact salary will be determined by prior experience and placement on the salary scale negotiated by the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College.
