Quotations

ADA Office

Web Page Guidelines - Mark up quotations with the Q and BLOCKQUOTE elements.

Short quotations, such as 10 words or less, should use Q. Longer quotations should use BLOCKQUOTE.

As she walked up she said, "<Q>Hi, my name is Natasha.</Q>"

<BLOCKQUOTE cite="http://www.shakespeare.com/loveslabourlost">
<P>Remuneration! O! that's the Latin word for three farthings.
--- William Shakespeare (Love's Labor Lost). </P>
</BLOCKQUOTE>

Rationale:

The HTML Q and BLOCKQUOTE elements add semantic information to the page that helps users with specialized software to understand the organization of the page.
