Mission Review is a SUNY strategic planning process that results in
detailed, individualized Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for each SUNY
college. The MOUs represent critical planning documents that detail
benchmarks and goals in key areas, including enrollment, retention,
graduation, admissions, faculty development, assessment, and comparisons
with peer institutions. While the subject headings covered in each MOU
are largely consistent across all Memoranda, the goals outlined in each
MOU are specific to individual institutions, reflecting unique
programmatic, geographic, and demographic factors.
Mission Review II is a continuation of the SUNY strategic planning
process. The first phase, Mission Review I, culminated in the formation
of an MOU in December 2000. The first cycle of Mission Review identified
institutional goals for higher academic program excellence and enhanced
student outcomes. New to Mission Review II is greater attention to
physical facilities, resource, and infrastructure implications of
academic plans. For additional information concerning Mission Review,
you can consult the following SUNY Website:

The Mission Review II process began at SCCC with the fielding of specific
questions by all members of the Executive Council. Then last November,
the Executive Council and the college’s governance chairs met with a
number of SUNY representatives, including Provost Salins. This meeting
entailed discussions concerning the college’s benchmarks and goals in
all of the areas listed above. Subsequent to this meeting, SUNY drafted
an MOU, which was shared this summer with the Executive Council, the
Strategic Planning Council, and the governance chairs. The campus deans
discussed the draft document with administrators on their campuses. A
number of recommendations came forward, which have been incorporated
into the MOU. Now that the college community has returned to the
campuses and classes are underway, I wish to share the draft MOU with
everyone at the college for further review and recommendations.
The community is invited to review the
*draft MOU and offer feedback.
Please e-mail your comments, by Friday, September 22, to the address
listed below. Your comments and suggestions are important to the
planning process.
*Note: The MOU is available to College employees only.
