The May 2017 meeting of the College’s Board of Trustees – originally scheduled for Thursday, May 18th – has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The next scheduled meeting date for the College’s Board of Trustees is Thursday, June 15, 2017. The time and location for the June 2017 meeting is Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the College’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center, 20 East Main Street, Riverhead, New York.

New Student Trustee Sworn In.

 

New Suffolk County Community College Student Trustee Gardy Amilcar, 26, center, is sworn in to begin his term. Amilcar, a business administration major who will graduate in May 2015, will serve as a trustee for one year.

The student trustee is one of 10 members of the Suffolk County Community College Board of Trustees and the Suffolk Community College (SCC) Association Board of Directors.

The Board of Trustees is charged with the overall responsibility of governing the college through policy development, long-range planning, and fiscal management.

The SCC Association Board of Directors has responsibility for managing, controlling, and directing the business affairs, activities, and policies of the SCC Association.


The student trustee is elected each year in a general election held during the spring semester. To be eligible to run for student trustee, a student must:

  • be a matriculated student at Suffolk County Community College
  • be in good academic standing
  • have completed at least 12 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5
